Lotus F1 Team, E21, Heikki Kovalainen, Brazilian Grand Prix 2013
On November 10th 2013, during the week running up to the US Grand Prix, it was announced that Kimi Raikkonen would not be able to compete in the final two races of the season after being advised to undergo urgent back surgery. This decision brought a premature end to what had been a highly successful year for the Finnish driver.
Four days later the Lotus F1 Team announced that fellow Finn Heikki Kovalainen would join the team and partner Romain Grosjean for the final two races. Heikki was considered the best candidate to fill Kimi’s boots due to his extensive F1 experience – he entered professional motorsport in 2001 in the British Formula Renault Championship and three years later drove for Renault as test driver, making his race debut in 2007 going on to race for McLaren, Lotus Racing and for the past two years with the Caterham F1 Team.
Heikki managed to finish in 14th position in both the US and Brazilian Grand Prix for the team and the car modelled here replicates Heikki’s E21 from the Brazilian Grand Prix featuring the #FullBrazilian slogan on the side of the car.
